Why not have a Splended Life…

A lot of you know this is the year of health for me, so after going through the process of joining the gym, getting myself on a diet, I then booked the dreaded appointment and went for a physical, something I haven’t done in over 4 years! I’m horrible with doctors. I dreaded the bad news and I was sort of right….

Diet needed, check… Cholesterol levels not so great (BLAH), sugar levels also not so great… Everything else… Perfectly fine! My doctor put me on meds for my blood sugar, as she said I’m in diabetic range and wanted to get it under control sooner than later and hopefully with my diet and exercise I could be off the medication in no time…

What does this lead to? I decrease in those yummy sweet treats, but really do I have to give them up? Not totally! There are great ways to make those sweet treats even available to those of us on restricted diets thanks to Splenda!
Splenda allows you to have the great taste of sugar without the carbs or calorires, perfect for my diet.

From the Splenda Website:

SPLENDA® Brand Sweetener, also known as sucralose, is a no-calorie sweetener that can be used as part of a healthy diet to reduce the calories and carbohydrate from sugar that you consume.

It is made through a patented process that starts with sugar and converts it to a no-calorie, non-carbohydrate sweetener. The result is a very stable sweetener that tastes like sugar, but without its calories. After you eat SPLENDA® Brand Sweetener, it passes through the body without being broken down for energy, so the body does not recognize it as a carbohydrate.

What I love about Splenda is they’re not just a product. If you take a peek at their website at splenda.com you’ll find some great information, including a great section on Living with Diabetes which I found helpful to help me out with my new diet and food choices.

Splenda also has a great recipe book called Splenda Tastebook which has a vast variety of recipes for a healthier lifestyle; you can also find these recipes online on Splenda’s website.

One of my favorite recipes from is the Nostalgic Apple Pie. A super easy and simple recipe that tastes great and even I can have a small piece. For a person who’s never even made a pie before, this has become a family favorite!

For the apple pie recipe and many others, or to find out more information on living with diabetes, a healthier lifestyle or the Splenda product, just visit the website at splenda.com.
