I’ll admit it, my fridge is a MESS! It’s ugly, disorganized, and has food just thrown in there any which way. It seems like everytime I go grocery shopping I’m cleaning the fridge out again to make it all nice and neat but in a day or two, it’s trashed and disorganized.
Half the time I forget about things that are in there it’s so bad, and then YUCK… Sargento thought of the great idea to have a spring cleaning campaign which I was involved in. Not only did they suggest cleaning out our refrigerators and kitchens but they also suggested putting your healthy items/snacks front and center in your fridge, it’s where your eyes look first and your hands have easy access to.
So, I decided to take on this challenge, emptied out my fridge, cleaned every inch and then I still had no room :( . At least it was clean though, and a little organized. Normally most snacks are kept in a drawer we have in the middle of our refrigerator, it’s clear, you can see what’s in it, and it’s easily accessible, but your eyes don’t wander there first when your in the fridge, so sometimes you may not realize exactly what’s in there.
Take for instance one of my girls favorite snacks, cheese sticks. Normally I take them out of the package and dump them in the drawer, sometimes they get lost, forgotten about etc. But it’s honestly the best placement for them, but Sargento to the rescue with their awesome new Fridge Packs!
Sargento’s Fridge Packs are available in a few different varieties such as Light String Cheese, Colby-Jack Cheese and Mild Cheddar Cheese. What I love, is that I can put these packs in the top shelf of the fridge or even in the door, they stand up straight, keep the fridge organized looking and also allow me to place them front and center in the fridge so the kids (and myself) grab them first before anything else!
The kids are home for the summer, and they’re always yelling “Mom I’m Hungry!” so instead of them snacking on those cookies/chips, why not get them into a healthier routine let them have an apple and some cheese! I also love the Sargento string cheese because they have a light version for myself who’s on a diet, and they’re already portioned perfectly for me to snack on!
What do you keep around the house during the summer months so that you and your family choose the healthier options?
Need ideas? Sargento Lists How to Create Healthier Snacking Habits:
• Pack Portable Snacks. Whether you are working, sightseeing, or running errands with the kids, bring a portable and healthy snack with you. If your kids are like mine, they instantly become hungry when we start driving in the car. I always bring a water bottle for each kid and a healthy snack. It keeps them satisfied, gives them a healthy snack instead of fast food, and it saves me money.
• Stock up on nutrient-rich foods. If you are stocked up on foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, eggs and cheese, you’ll snack wisely and get the energy boost you need from a snack. If you don’t buy the sugary snacks, you won’t eat them. Simple, but true.
• Portion Control. Aim for 100 to 200 calories per snack, cheese, fruit, and nuts all fall into this category easily.
• Include Protein + fiber in your snacks. If you reach for a snack with protein and fiber, you will feel fuller for longer, and they pack other vital nutrients to support good health.
You can find the new Sargento Fridge Packs in the cheese section of your major grocery retailer.
