Do It Yourself projects seem to be all the rage right now, and with the inclusion of the website Pinterest, it’s even more tempting to do so. There’s so many days and nights where you’ll find me on my laptop or smartphone browsing pinterest, and pinning things I’d love to make, cook and try. I’ve already done a few do it yourself projects I’ve found, and I’ve also made a ton of recipes. So far, I haven’t had a Pinfail, but that’s not to say it won’t happen.
So many of the projects that I do find online I look to make my home look more comfortable, more ‘rich’ but doing it on a budget. One thing I’m not good at or have tried my hand at is working with fabrics, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Normally it’s not my thing, but would I dismiss trying it? Heck no! If I could find the proper project, you never know what I’ll be encouraged to do.
A lot of my friends can get very creative with fabrics, I’ve seen a ton of their great work online, and I do always wish I could do the same. What I would love to work with though, is some luxurious fabric. Try to make some pillows, throws etc. to drape over my couches.
How creative are you? Do you have unique ideas or have you found some to use with different fabrics? Linen Fabric seem to be popular these days for projects. You can purchase linen by the yard, and even mix them to make custom table clothes, window treatments, pillows, upholstery or any other kind of home décor that you can think of. Do a search for linen on a site like Pinterest and I’m sure an array of projects will flash beyond your eyes. Working with linen will allow you to create so many different things.
From different colors, patterns and even different textures you can find so many different fabrics to suit your needs and the project your trying to accomplish. Try using a swatch card to bring home with you first, figure out if you’ve selected the right fabric, color, texture and pattern to go along with your project, and to make sure that it matches the décor look your going for, don’t just walk through an isle at the store and think, I like that. Take the time, find the perfect fabric with a swatch and make sure it reflects what you want and need.
