Walmart graciously helped bring reading to the students of this school along with We Give Books, Pearson Foundation and the WWE by donating over 500 copies of Otis to Dresden Elementary in Sterling Heights Michigan.
It was great to see the kids excited not only about the WWE Superstars, but about the story and activities as well! Children’s Literacy is just one of the other things that the WWE and their superstars are passionate about. Throughout the year the WWE works with We Give Books and the Pearson Foundation to travel to schools and visit with kids to get them excited about reading, along with a super reading challenge during Wrestlemania time!
During the month of October, you and your kids can join in the fun and read Otis with the WWE Superstars and children and parents from around the world! We Give Books and the world are coming together to show their support for early childhood literacy.
How would you and your children like to help set a record by joining in on the Otis Book Parade?
The Otis Book Parade is a free digital book club for kids, leading up to Read for the Record on October 3rd. Each week there will be special books featured on the We Give Book’s library, along with activities that highlight the values exemplified by Otis. When children join the club and say “I’m with Otis” they are learning the value of being friendly, helpful, hard working and thoughtful to others.Help support Jumpstart’s work to ensure that children across the county enter school prepared to succeed… Click here to join the Otis Book Parade today and don’t forget to read Loren Long’s Otis with us on October 3, 2013!
I asked both Hornswoggle and Brodus Clay about why they think it’s important to give back to the younger fans and take part in programs like the Reading Celebration and Be A Star.
