I have earned the meanest Mom in the world award!!

We’re on day 4 of another day of no school. The roads still aren’t great, and as crazy as my children are driving me at this point (still on Christmas break 4 days past the time Christmas break was supposed to end) I’m happy we don’t have school! That means I don’t have to go out into this cold and snow unless I want to, and believe me, I don’t want to.

Yesterday we were pretty sure that school would be open today, or at the very most on a 2 hour delay. The roads were getting better, the temps were climbing up (if you can call it that), and we had already had 3 days off. Yes, I’m sure we would have school the next day.

My girls who are 10 and 7 have a normal bedtime of 8:00pm on school nights, they share a room, so granted 8pm bedtime usually they don’t fall asleep till around 9. They talk, my oldest will tell my youngest a story, or they will read to themselves for a while. But last night……..They…Were…driving…me….INSANE!!! They would NOT be quiet, they would NOT stay in their own beds, they were making me mad!

We didn’t get notified about school being canceled until about 9:30pm, these girls were still wide awake messing around, even though we had already yelled at them multiple times to get to sleep, they had school in the morning. So, by this time, I was about loosing it… I decided to be the meanest mom in the world!

We woke up this morning just like it was a school day….YUP that’s right! We were going to school, or so they thought… They got up, dressed, brushed their teeth… My oldest came downstairs to have breakfast, I had just told my youngest to get her teeth brushed and I’d do her hair. All of a sudden we hear screaming…. “YOU LIED TO ME!!!!!!!”

My oldest ran upstairs “YOU LIED TO ME!!! There is NO school today again!” How do you know that I asked her? “I saw it on the TV! YOU LIED!”.

Yup! That’s what you GET for messing around and not going to bed!

The meanest mom in the world award…GOES TO ME and I’m proud of it!!!

Sounds like you were both just doing your “jobs.” The girls were being kids and you are being a mom.

I don’t think you are mean at all! I will probably do this every time there is a snow day when my kids get older.

Well, maybe that just means we are both mean… 😉

That’s a good plan, Mom. It’s about time someone took that title away from me. They need to do some lessons today, too, just as if they were in school. I’m sure you can find something online or maybe a homeschooling Mom can send you something for them to do. I mean, after all, you ARE the Meanest Mom In The World.

Oh, they’ve already been doing that over break and over these snow days… They access something called SuccessMaker from home, a program they do daily at school, and they have workbooks, and they have to read a chapter every night… Yup, I’m THAT Mom! lol

We were in the same boat, I couldn’t wait for my boys to go back. After that many days they were just at each other’s throats. We found out that going outside in the cold is dangerous as my oldest played in the snow and let his hat ride up on his head, exposing his ear. That night it was about double its normal size, a small case of frostbite! Congrats on the award, I was in the running for meanest dad!

Well played. I would have probably done the same thing.
