Air Conditioning, The Key To Keeping Me Sane This Summer!

Yup, that’s me! It’s not crazy hot this summer in Ohio, in fact, it wasn’t until this week that we actually reached summer temperatures, so I’m not complaining, I love the sun, I love the heat….However, my body does NOT! What my body loves is the cool Air Conditioning going on in my house!

Be it my meds, or be it hot flashes, I don’t know exactly what it is because it could be both, my sweat glands are going nuts. I could be in a fully air conditioned mall, and I’m sweating up a storm. Heck just doing the dishes makes me sweat. I hate being a woman sometimes. So what would I do if my AC went out? I think I would go crazy!

My thermostat is probably set at freezing level, as i freeze out my husband and children who are constantly covered up in blankets because of me, oh and did I mention I also sleep with the fan on me at night too? Yea, I should be Jack Frost! I remember always making fun of my mom for being so HOT all the time, and well, I guess Karma is a you know what…..

So, you can only imagine how much my AC runs, and how much energy it uses. Check out some of the recommended tips to save energy and some cash this summer when running your Air Conditioning.

Tips to save you money while using your air conditioning unit this summer:

1.Set your air conditioner thermostat as high as comfortable, keep air vents clear of any objects.

2.Tune up and clean/replace your filters monthly

3.Minimize indoor heat. Run things like the dryer, dishwasher and oven at night. Let dishes air dry on hot days. Use the major appliances only between 2 and 8pm to keep that bill lower.

4.Keep your blinds and windows closed during the day, and open at night.

5.Use ceiling fans to keep your house cooler

By using some of these tips, you’ll help get your energy bill down, and keep your home cool! I’m all for both of those things!

This sounds a lot like me! I keep my home as cold as I can. In the winter, I only run the heater so my pipes don’t freeze and then burst. Also, there is a fan by my bed for when I sleep at night.

No kidding! Luckily this year hasn’t been all that bad. Last year’s run of 100+ for like 2 weeks straight was murder (and I got a $300 electricity bill that month). I’ve found that 77 degrees is comfortable and 78 is uncomfortable for me.
