Mothers always wear numerous hats; the many roles a mother may play on a given day include teacher, nurse, cook, librarian, maid, etc. With that much work to do, a mother should be compensated well. However, that is not always the case. If only hugs, kisses and love could pay for a new wardrobe for moms.
Looking stylish is certainly not the first thing on a mother’s ever-buzzing mind, especially when finding time to just take a shower, get dependent little ones ready, attend children’s extracurricular events, and prepare a meal, let alone shop and maintain a chic wardrobe, seem unattainable. Keep in mind that taking the time to look nice boosts one’s self-confidence, which the kids pick up on and emulate. We want children to see a mother in control of all areas of her life, including her appearance. Don’t feel selfish for spending a little time and a little money to update your look. Don’t lose your identity because you are a mother of little ones, or big ones off at an expensive college that mom and dad are forking over a pretty penny to pay for. Remember that you deserve new things once in awhile too! Those old t-shirts and holey jeans from your college days can be saved for work clothes, but regain your dignity and look the part of a lovely momma! It may seem like only a superhuman mother could look stylish on top of accomplishing her many duties as a mother, but it is possible, and here is how!
Searching online for coupons and promo codes before clicking “confirm” on a purchase is imperative. Why pay full price when your friend Mr. Google can jump in and save some of your hard-earned money? Signing up for store emails and text messages can give you access to savings you wouldn’t otherwise know about. If you have time while baby is napping or after you tuck the kids into bed, seek out those deals! Moneysavingmom.com is one of many websites for moms, by moms, that offers you the scoop on great deals. American Eagle Outfitters offer coupons and Forever 21 are a few quality stores where you can net some steep savings using discount codes!
Not to mention, you’ll be the trendiest mom around, and the most financially savvy! A mother’s time is precious, and rarely her own, such is the case for those ranging from stay-at-home mother to full time working mother. That’s where online shopping takes center stage as a real time saver for all of you hard-working mommas!
Don’t be afraid to put in a little, or a lot, of elbow grease to reap some serious savings. If you find some statement pieces at beautiful prices, you’ll get compliments on your looks and your husband will give you compliments on your budgeting. It’s a win-win! It’s time for you to look the part of teacher, nurse, cook, librarian, maid, etc., but without the scrubs and chef hat. Find those deals on designer duds and don’t feel guilty or penniless! You are worth it. Now go find your new look and surprise your family with how put-together you can look beyond those yoga pants!

After my first born, I swore I was going to do better, now that I knew better. I was going to make her baby food myself, not use so many ‘chemically engineered’ items on her, and cloth diaper instead of using the disposables.
Well, I did well with the first two. I made all her food, I used more natural products with her, but the cloth diapering, I just couldn’t do. I heard so many great things about them, and I still do, but for me, it just wasn’t something I was going to grin and bear, I mean there was work to it, and lets be honest, I was tired, and well, LAZY! Disposables were so much easier! Less cost effective, but you pay for convience. If I was able to find someone who would do the laundry for me and change her diapers, lol I probably would have found convient, easy to use cloth diapers that I would have used on her, but alas, I’m the lazy mom who really wanted the easy way out.
Cloth Diapering is great, if you can do it, and if you aren’t lazy like me. I commend those who do! How DO you do it though? The laundry, the getting rid of the ‘mess’? I always wondered how mom’s were able to do it, with a smile and telling everyone “We Cloth Diaper”. So many questions, so many unanswered questions.
As my girls are older now, I don’t have to worry about that, but I still wanted to give you all a little advice, and/or laugh, I mean you can find pleanty of places where you can find reasons you should cloth diaper, one of my favorite reads is the Lazy Mom’s Guide to Cloth Diapering cause let me tell you, that is what I was, lazy mom, I wish I found that article sooner!
My Reasons Not To Cloth Diaper My Kids….
– White Diapers match EVERYTHING!
– More garbage provides jobs and something to do for the garbage man! We don’t want them out of a job!
– I like to shop, having to go to the store for diapers so many times, gives me an excuse to find other things I want to buy.
– Laundry sucks, I’m already behind, my kid will have a bare butt if I have to do so much laundry
– Infant Skinny Jeans!!
– Leaving behind a legacy! That’s right, my kids DNA is in those landfills!
Ok, so my reasoning isn’t really advice, it’s just a means for a laugh. Check out some of these new moms who decided to switch from disposables to cloth diapering, see what they thought and how they did.
Seriously, for those who do cloth diaper, I bow to you cause I just couldn’t do it. I’d like to know how you do/did though, what’s your advice to new moms who are thinking about cloth diapering?

Seriously, because that’s where I’m at right now. I don’t want to give up, but I’m feeling like I should just throw in the towel and forget about it.
I have a goal, I want to finally reach that goal, but it’s hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel when you’re not moving forwards, but rather backwards.
I’ve been doing well, staying within my Macros for my food, exercising at least 5 times a week, sometimes twice a day. I’m listening to my trainer, but I’m just not seeing results. I was, don’t get me wrong, but this week has me discouraged more than most.
While I was on vacation, I measured, didn’t see the measurements I was hoping for, in fact, they went up rather than down. We were stuck in Arizona because of that whole Southwest Airlines debacle, so I ended up having to weigh myself during vacation as well, on a scale, that wasn’t mine. Scary in itself, but, according to that scale, I had lost 7lbs. I was HAPPY! Super HAPPY! Knowing in the back of my mind, that yes, it could be wrong, but I was rolling with it. Heck, I even WORKED OUT while on vacation! Stayed within my food, everything. The only thing I struggled on was water..
Next week was measurements, and they were good. I wasn’t happy with them once again, but big surprise. I’m working SO HARD on this, I want to see better results faster. But alas, the boss (my trainer) said I was right on track and doing awesome. So, happy with the results I will be. Here’s the latest progress….
This week though, this week, I feel down, I feel discouraged, I feel like giving up. I don’t know if it’s PMS or what…But, I keep thinking, what is the point in working so hard for this, when I gain weight?!?!?! Bootcamp 2-3 times a week, gym at least 3 times a week, and like I said, sometimes twice a day. My food, probably could be better, but I’m still working on it, I’m eating what I’m supposed to be eating, I’m staying within my macros, I’m drinking my water. What more can I do? Maybe I’m just determined to be fat, ugly and unmotivated. Maybe I should give up.
This week I got a new scale to do a review on, which will be coming up soon, because I am NOT happy with the scale. It made me cry, yes the scale made me cry. It was 10lbs over what I last weighed myself as. 10 lbs in 2 weeks? REALLY?!?!?! So, I took out my old, usual scale that I normally weigh myself on. Yup, still up, 4 lbs. What the HELL is going on?????? PMS? I’m just a fatty fat fat? I see my trainer this afternoon, and I don’t even want to give him the news that I’ve apparently gained 4lbs in 2 weeks, sure it’s better than gaining 10, but I shouldn’t be gaining anything!!! And no, it’s not muscle, that’s entirely impossible to gain 4lbs of muscle in 2 weeks….
I’m discouraged and I don’t know what to do…..run, hide, give up? My new mantra is supposed to be Never Give Up, but right now, that’s the hardest thing in the world NOT to do….. I keep trying to tell myself it’s not all about the numbers on the scale, and it really isn’t, and my trainer has told me a million times I’ll see ups and downs, but for whatever reason, this really has ME down…

With summer winding down, I don’t know about you, but we have a lot of birthday’s coming up, and then the holidays, things seem to get way more hectic and expensive after summer break is over. My oldest daughter had a big birthday coming up in September, she’ll be turning 13!!! Where did the time go?!?! Teens are HARD to buy for, they stick their nose up at most things, or get overly excited at the dumbest things, gifts are HARD to find for a teen!

I decided to try out Groupon and see what they had available, which was perfect! With Groupon Goods I could find an experience/activity for him, or a dinner for him and mom to go out to, it was the perfect place to find a gift for him, easy, and quick, and didn’t cost me an arm and a leg.
I’m thinking Groupon might be the best bet to find my daughter a gift too. The prices are great and I can get her anything from headphones to video games, horseback riding lessons to a waterpark weekend. I think she’d really enjoy getting something a little different this year and a weekend away might be the most fun for her. Maybe that, and a video game, because lord knows if she doesn’t get one she might turn into the demon spawn of 13 year olds!

So it’s another week. I’m still hanging in there. I’ve been too tired some days/mornings, but I’ve refused to give up or give in. I haven’t missed a day of my gym training or boot camps, and in fact, this week, I’ll be adding a Saturday boot camp into my routine.
Saturday was my weigh day, and I’m proud to say I lost 3.2lbs since my last weigh in. That means I’m down to 237.3. This Saturday will be a measuring week so we’ll see how the numbers change, it will also be my photo day.

Not the change I’d like to see, but I’m moving…. It’s just recently that I started using MyFitnessPal and logging and paying attention to my food and nutrition. This is what I need to work on. The exercise is actually the easy part for me. I also had the challenge from my trainer to do a gallon of water a day last week, and I’m happy to say that it’s officially a week today, and I’ve drank an entire gallon each day!!
I am noticing though that I’m starting to pay a lot more attention to things. Take this past weekend. I allow myself a cheat meal once a week, or treat, whatever you want to call it. I don’t want to stray too far, so I refuse to have a cheat day so to speak, but if there’s something I’ve been craving all week, on the weekend I’ll allow myself to have it. I’ve been craving McDonald’s chocolate shake and fries, so I figured I’d get it for my ‘cheat treat’. I got to the drive thru, and thank goodness for McDonald’s having calorie counts on their menu board now, because a shake was 700 calories. FORGET THAT! I know it was a cheat treat but come on, I really didn’t want to down 700 calories for it. So, I left the drive thru line, pulled over and pulled out MyFitnessPal and took a look at what my options were.
Wendy’s was just a drive over, and I found out that a Jr. Chocolate Frosty was only 200 calories, and a value french fry was 220. 420 calories and I satisfied my sweet / salty craving!! I was pretty proud of myself for not giving in like I normally would and being like oh, it’s a cheat day let’s eat everything in sight.
