I’ve been slacking lately, I admit it. Working out, eating right. I’ve even cheated on my Nutrisystem. I’m in a funk, and can’t shake myself out of it.
I vow though, once my next order of Nutrisystem comes in, once our traveling is over this month, I’m back to working out at least 3 days a week, I’m back to eating right, and feeling better about myself! There’s a huge difference between when I am working out and eating right, and when I’m not.
Until then though, you’ll find me online, looking for some lucrative goods online for less. If I’m going to work out, and go hard, I might as well look good doing it right? Zumba isn’t the same when you’re in dumpy clothes, you feel so much better dressed for the ‘part’. So if I must shop, I must!
This week, I’ll be looking to find great deals for top quality sportswear and hopefully that will clear some of my funk up. I need some real work out clothes, get out of the baggy sweats and big t-shirts. If I want to get fit, I need to see myself in the part… Right?
What are some of your favorite or must have’s for working out? Are you a sweats and big t-shirt girl like I am or I should say was, or do you go with tighter fitting traditional athletic wear and work out clothes? What’s your workout fashion?

It’s no surprise that the Wii has come into many homes as more than just a gaming machine, but as a way to motivate and get us moving. The newest ‘fitness crave’ isn’t the newest fitness DVD or equipment, it’s the Nintendo Wii!
Like many other Nintendo Wii owners, I own a Wii Fit, as well as a ton of other fitness/exercise games to accompany it. One of the newest peripherals that have made a home within our home is the Wii Push Up Bars. A great idea I thought, at first….
I was eager to try these out, and it was a pretty simple set up. The Wii Push Up Bar is made of plastic and you just simply place it on top of the Wii Balance Board when you need to use it, it’s held on simply by your own body weight, so one downfall…. It detaches too easily if you’re pushing or exerting yourself within your exercise. The Push Up Bars have adjustable grips which can be moved to two different positions as well, and is compatible with the Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, New U Fitness and Jillian Fitness Ultimatum games.
Check out the Wii Push Up Bars in action in the video below:
My take, I wasn’t too thrilled, the Push Up Bars felt like they were going to slip off my balance board a few times even with the foam ‘grip’ underneath, they also felt a little flimsy. The push up bars are a great addition, but this is one peripheral I could probably do without it was fun to try it out though and I love finding new peripherals for my Wii fitness games!
You can purchase the Wii Push Up Bars on Amazon.com for $25.

I joined the gym…. I’ve wanted to join for a long time now but finances, me not driving, and other various things stopped me from doing it. Although I did well with my weight loss at first (lost 40lbs and surprised i’ve kept most of it off), I noticed I started to slack off big time.
I have my Wii, and have been doing various games/exercises with that, I’ve been doing my kettle Bell workouts etc, but it just doesn’t cut it. I have so many other reasons when I’m at home NOT to exercise, that I just put it off and put it off. I had to go back to the gym.
Back in the day, I used to LOVE to workout at the gym, you would find me there daily almost 3 hrs a day, especially right before I got married, I was a gym machine! You’d think I lived there working out daily. I really missed it, and I get my motivation by going, it really does make a huge difference.
I decided to join Super Fitness, which has a great facility, ton’s of machines and the best part, a personal trainer included in your monthly fee (which is pretty cheap too $19.99/mth). I think that’s one of the things that swayed me besides it being so close to home. I’ve always wanted to have a personal trainer but with any other gym I’ve been to, it was always an extra fee. Not here, everything is included in your membership, it’s GREAT!
I had my first workout and session with my trainer yesterday. I ended up being at the gym for about an hour and a half. Working with free weights, circuit training and then a 30 minute cardio session, let me just say, I remember now why I HATE CARDIO!!! Lol… I’d rather work with weights ALL DAY EVERY DAY but I know, gotta get that cardio in, it’s the key to weight loss.
I’m not heading there today due to hubby’s work schedule and won’t be able to get there on the weekends either for the same reason, ACK!! I was trying to figure out scenarios on how to get there, but it just didn’t work. So, looking at his work schedule for next week and beyond and making my ‘workout’ schedule for the gym, so I know what days I will and will not be going. I guess on the days not working out, it will be home bound workouts for now.
I can’t wait until we can get a second car!!!! One of the good things about this gym too is they have a Super Fitness Kids area. It’s not just a ‘daycare’ setting, the kiddos actually get to play around and workout too on their own sized machines, my girls can’t wait to go.
So I’m actually happy I did this, and excited about it too. I can’t wait to see the toning and weight loss that’s going to happen!! I also notice one very important thing. My mood change! When I’m working out, I’m HAPPY. There’s no longer a worry or depression going on in my head… I find I’m more ME again, so this helps tremendously.
Oh the other great thing, which I wasn’t too happy about at first, is it’s a co-ed gym, and you all know me, I looooovveee my muscle heads LMAO and boy oh boy did I see some YUMMY ones yesterday!!!

Today I want to take a little look at those little things we all seem to love. The 100 calorie package, you can find these snacks just about everywhere now but are they the right snacks we should be eating?
Oreos, chocolate chip cookies, Doritos, Cheeto’s, even chocolate bars, you can find just about everything today in a 100 calorie pack. While it seems like a great way to portion out our servings, is it really a healthy alternative to use when dieting?
These snacks are a great way to portion out servings, eating that small 100 calorie bag of snacks is far better than eating an entire box or bag of the regular snack before we know it. But does it really prevent us from overeating? How many times have you gone back to grab just one more package right away or even an hour later?
According to a study from Arizona State University 100 calorie snack packs can actually boost consumption! They gave people 200 calories worth of regular-sized M&M’s vs. the same amount of mini-M&M’s packaged into four baggies. 18% ate all of the mini-M&M packages while only 4% of those with the regular sized did. Those they tested that were not chronic dieters did just the opposite; over 30% of them ate MORE regular sized M&M’s from the larger package.
A big thing when dieting is not only portion control for a lot of us, but eating nutritious as well and the 100 calorie packs really don’t give us much of that. They’re still filled with carbs and sugars and empty calories. Things we need to look out for are foods that are going to help us suppress that appetite. Foods that are high in fiber, protein and healthy carbs and fats. With the sugar, high carb count and empty calories, these 100 calorie snacks will just keep us wanting more.
It’s easy to find some great 100 calorie items that will be nutritious and help our bodies and our hunger during out diet, some things that are a great 100 calorie snack include:
* 12 oz of skim milk
* 1 cup of fresh cherries
* 1/2 a cantaloupe
* 1 packet of regular instant oatmeal
* 1 cup of peanuts + 2 cups of dried cranberries
* 1 cup of fresh strawberries
* 15 almonds (plain without the added salt)
* 1 cup baby carrots + 2 tablespoons of humus
* 1 large celery stalk stuffed with a tablespoon of peanut butter
* 1 medium banana
* 2 egg whites on 1 slice of whole-wheat toast
These are just a few snacks that I’ve put on my list recently. My eating every 3 hours with some high protein high fiber foods isn’t an easy task, but with the snacks on hand, I can get it done, and be healthy doing it while keeping my appetite in check!
