The Fat Won’t Budge! #NsNation
Written by lyricsmama on June 15, 2011 – 10:44 AM -
Well, I guess I can be happy. I totally was expecting to see a gain this week when I weighed in. In fact, I wasn’t going to weigh in at all and just skip it!
Being as I’ve not been doing well this week on my Nutrisystem. Cheating, eating out horribly because of cravings, and to top it off, got my period this week. Yup, not a good weigh in week for me at all, the fat just didn’t want to budge (and I didn’t help it either)…
I’m down to 211.5 this week. That’s a .5 difference from last weeks weigh in at 212. Oh well, I guess it’s not a gain so that’s good…
I vow from today though, that I’m back on track with my exercising, my Nutrisystem D Diet and making sure my pounds and blood sugar levels stay LOW and keep going lower!
I admit, the Nutrisystem D plan for diabetics has been working great up until this week, and you know what, it’s not the diet that didn’t work, it was ME giving up will power! Not drinking my water, eating things I shouldn’t be, having a hot dog with all the fixings and sweet potato fries on the weekend, yup, not a good plan Gina, not a good one at all…
Water intake will be up this week, veggies will be up, no/low carbs, and eating all that Nutrisystem food that sits in my freezer and pantry.
One cool thing though, since I finally hit 10lbs lost last week I got my first Nutribear sent to me from Nutrisystem!
How cute is that? Getting a little bear to mark my 10lbs lost! Love it! I hope to continue getting my Nutribears even if I screwed up this past week…
Anyone have any tips for struggling during ‘that time of the month’? Motivation? Tips? Tricks? You name it I want it because I want this month to be the only time I struggle, I need to keep my motivation, keep my willpower! Thankfully I have you guys to cheer me on, as well as the message board with others who are on the same program over at Nutrisystem.
Now, I’m off to go fill my 30oz water bottle with water and limes, have one of my Nutrisystem cereals for breakfast with some fat free milk, and some fat free yogurt and start this day off right, because next weeks post I WANT to be a LOSER again!

Another Week Of Being A Loser #NSNation
Written by lyricsmama on June 6, 2011 – 9:45 PM -So, it’s been about a month now on Nutrisystem, this week had me worried. I cheated a few times, I’m PMSing really bad, and I was convinced that I’d be seeing a gain on the scale…
Well…. I was WRONG!
There, on the scale was the number 212.0.. That’s down another 6 lbs since last weigh in last week, which means I’ve now lost a total of 13lbs!!!
I have to admit, eating out of boxes, packages and containers every day, for every meal really didn’t thrill me at first. I wasn’t exactly sure how this was going to work out. Granted, I add dairy, protein, fruits, veggies and fats to my meals, but the main course, out of a microwave, or boiling water… Really?
YES REALLY! It works, and I’m the proof of it… And to be honest, the food isn’t that bad either, its actually pretty good, and when you add in your veggies, protein/dairy etc to it, it’s an entire meal that’s YUMMY!
Just so you can get a brief glimpse of what I’m talking about food wise. Think scrambled eggs with veggies, from a bag! Yea, doesn’t sound too appetizing does it? But, to my surprise it was actually pretty good! After adding water, stirring it, putting it in the microwave and then to my plate along with my protein (3oz) and a tbsp. of fat free sour cream, my breakfast was really good!
I did notice, when we have gone out to eat, it’s really helped me focus on my portions. When we’re out, I use my Nutrisystem App. on my phone, or I visualize my journal in my head knowing what I can eat for that meal, how many oz. of meat I can have etc. Nutrisystem really does change your mindset, so that when you aren’t on the actual Nutrisystem food one day, you’ll have learned how to properly eat.
I can already see the difference. I don’t think it’s a good thing, OK well in my case it IS a good thing, for you to be washing dishes and have your denim capris sliding down, or getting to the end of the stairs with your pants down to your knees.. True stories!
But you can also tell in some recent photos, as my hubby pointed out to me… Check them out, the first photo is from April, and the second one from just yesterday (June 5).
I’m loving Nutrisystem! But it’s not only the Nutrisystem that’s helped, I have been having to exercise as well, it isn’t always about the food, but Nutrisystem has given me that jump start that I needed to see the numbers on the scale go down, down, down! I’ll be making a visit to the doctor in a few weeks, and since I am on the Nutrisystem D program for diabetic’s I’ll be excited to see how it’s affected my blood sugars and A1C numbers.

Nutrisystem Week 2 – I’m Loosing It! #NSNation
Written by lyricsmama on May 25, 2011 – 10:03 AM -I’ve finished week 2 on Nutrisystem and I’m currently in week 3, so I bet your wondering how have I been doing so far?
GREAT!
I’m down to 218.5!! WOOHOO that’s another 3lbs down!!! That’s a total of 6.5lbs lost! I’m LOVING Nutrisystem!
I’ve also been working out at least 3x a week, 30 minutes on weight training, 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes on the treadmill. I even got hubby out of the house on Sunday
while we had someone where to watch the girls for a 2.5 mile walk together!
I’m still struggling with water, and this week particularly has been hard trying to stick to my diet. We had family over on the weekend and had a bbq, man was that hard. I made sure to only have 3oz of chicken and the rest a bunch of veggies, but I did cheat a little with some grilled sweet potatoes drizzled in olive oil, which I’m not supposed to have on my Nutrisystem D Select diet (for diabetics). It’s also PMS week, and I’m all out of chocolate goodies from Nutrisystem so its even harder, but I CAN DO IT! And I’ve mentioned to my husband, now on week 3 it’s not as hard as it was on week 1. When shopping or getting take out for the rest of the family, I don’t normally have too many “I WANT” cravings or wishing I could eat what they’re having.
I just finished my order for my next month of food, I’m looking forward to the buffalo chicken wrap, the brownie, the Italian wedding soup, and one of my favorites, the pizza and burger! Which surprisingly enough, the shelf stable burger in which you let soak in some boiling water tastes AMAZING! Just like a regular burger, I even put it on my George Foreman for a for a few minutes afterward to ‘grill it up’ a bit.
Nutrisystem has been great, not only keeping me with the right portions, giving me great food, but also helping me with much needed support via their community forums. I’ve learned how to ‘dress up’ my food a little more to get the max out of my diet, I’ve found some great friends, and just knowing that you’re not in this alone helps tremendously. Right now they’re having a special as well where you can get 50% off your first auto ship, which is a great deal!

Nutrisystem Week 1 Score: Me 4 Fat 0!! #NSNation
Written by lyricsmama on May 15, 2011 – 3:35 PM -I couldn’t be more thrilled right now! Nutrisystem is WORKING!!!! I just finished my first week, and lost 4lbs!!I’m now down to 221 lbs!! I’m so excited!
I thought this was going to be really hard truthfully, and I’m still struggling a bit, but with some help from the Nutrisystem community, other bloggers in the #NSNation and help from Nutrisystem staff, I’m on my way!
My biggest challenge was drinking water at first. I don’t drink enough as is, I can go an entire day with maybe 1 glass of something, horrible I know. I was struggling with water, and didn’t really want to use Crystal Light as it counts as an ‘extra’ because it does contain calories. So, I got the great suggestion of putting fruit inside my water bottle. Lemon, Lime and Orange, I’ve also put strawberry, and it’s working WONDERFULLY! I can get though my 64oz a day no problem now!
I’m also learning to add to the Nutrisystem meals. I’m eating a TON of veggies! But finding new and great ways to incorporate them into each meal, especially at dinner time. Did you know that on Nutrisystem you don’t just eat their meals? This was a misconception I had from the beginning. You do add grocery items like dairy, protein, fats and veggies as well as other condiments etc.
My big surprise this first week was how good the meals actually were. I don’t think there’s anything yet that I’ve turned my nose down at. I was a bit apprehensive with the burger, I mean um taking it out of the box (because it’s shelf stable) and adding boiling water to it didn’t sound like it was going to be even a little appetizing. But to my surprise, IT WAS GREAT!!! I added my whole grain bun, some veggies to top it off (mushrooms, onions) and a bit of ketchup and YUM! I was eating an actual burger! And it was GOOD!
I’m also loving their pizza’s and desserts. I can have things like cookies, and brownies and not feel guilty!
The Nutrisystem community and message boards are also a great help. Reading about what other members to do spice up their meals is just amazing, there’s some great recipes to stay on Nutrisystem, incorporate your Nutrisystem meals and enjoy a great meal! You’d be surprised what some of these guys come up with, Strawberry Shortcake, Spaghetti Squash added to the NS ravioli. It’s amazing, I’ve found some great ideas!
One thing I did slack on this week was exercise. I’ve been so busy with other things I didn’t get any in. So I’m telling myself, Monday morning 9am to the gym I go! If I can loose 4lbs in a week with just eating better, imagine how well I can do when I bring exercise into the mix as well!
Keep an eye out for my next update where hopefully I’ll have even better news by loosing some more weight!Thank You Nutrisystem!!!

Hoping the Nutrisystem Nation can kick my butt into gear! #NSNation
Written by lyricsmama on May 4, 2011 – 4:06 PM -I’ve been really slacking with my weight loss lately, in fact I’ve even gained a few pounds back from what I’ve lost. I’ve still been working out, it’s the eating that’s been getting to me this time. You can work out as much as you want, but if you’re eating habits aren’t following the healthy routine you’re trying to set for yourself, it’s just not going to work.
So, I needed some help…. I’ve started Nutrisystem!
From the website:
Here at Nutrisystem, our mission is to provide a weight loss program based on quality foods and a nutritionally balanced meal plan; individualized counseling is the core of our commitment that customers always have the privacy, support and knowledge needed to reach their goal weight.
I’m hoping this gives me the kick start that I need. Logging my food, planning my meals and having the majority of my meals already prepared for me in the correct portion size. It can’t do anything but help, right?
On Nutrisystem you don’t just eat their food solely, I also have to buy grocery staples to add to my meals like protein, veggies, fruit and fat. My pantry stables arrived yesterday which included breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts, all color coded on the package so you know which is which. As you can see, I had to clear out my pantry to make room for my nutrisystem stash. I’m still waiting on the delivery of my frozen foods which should be any day now.
So I start today. This was my breakfast…..
8oz of fat free milk, and an Apple Strudel Scone which was actually very good! I’ll also have a morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner and then dessert. A hard thing for me will be keeping up with my water intake. Thankfully Nutrisystem sent me a water bottle as well, which for whatever reason I’ll see helping me as it tells me right on the bottle I need to drink at least 2 of them a day!
I already go to the gym about 3x a week, but I’m going to step it up at home on the days that I don’t go, to make sure that I’m pushing myself even more than usual. I’m starting out on Nutrisystem at 225 lbs (I can’t believe I just wrote that on my blog). My overall goal right now is to reach 145 which is 5lbs less than I was on my wedding day 9 years ago.
This photo was taken of me this past weekend at the UFC 129 Fan Expo:
I’m hoping there will be a big change within the next 4 months! I also promise to do a better before picture when I get the chance as well.
What I also love about Nutrisystem, is that I have access to a community! A message board of other Nutrisystem members online, I also have a phone number to call when I need the extra help, or have questions. Nutrisystem also has apps for your phone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry) so I can keep track even when I don’t have my computer or journal by my side.
I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me I might feel like I’ll need home health care agencies it’s so much work, and I’m going to take you ALL on the journey with me as I try out the Women’s Nutrisystem D Select Program, which is for type 2 diabetics who want to lose weight for the next 4 months!
If you’re inspired to start this weight loss journey on Nutrisystem you can join today by calling 1-888-853-4689 or by visiting nutrisystem.com/nsblog.
