Feng Shui your car in time for Road-Trip Season!!

I know with spring, at least for out family comes a time for cleaning. Not only our home, but ourselves as well as we take another look at our health both emotionally and physically.

Feng Shui is one way to relieve the daily stresses we all encounter. Feng Shui is an old Chinese philosophy which governs spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to patterns of ying and yang and the flow of energy (qi).   A lot of people arrange their homes in a Feng Shui way but since most of us are in our cars multiple times a day, or for long trips, why not use this in our cars as well!

Long road trips can sometimes be a source of frustration and stress, especially with kids in the car so Chicago Healers Practitioner Andie Pearson, DMD, CCST offers some tips to feng shui ones’ car in order to reduce stress on your next road trip.

• CLEAR IT OUT – Before leaving on a long drive, completely clean out the vehicle. Dispose of all trash, magazines, receipts, etc. Vacuum the carpets and clean the windows to allow a clear view of your life’s path. Take out all the winter supplies (snow scrapers, windshield wiper fluid, a blanket) and ready yourself for summer fun (a beach bag, tennis racquet, a folding chair).

• GO WITH THE FLOW – If you’re prone to road rage, hang a round, faceted crystal from a blue ribbon on your rear-view mirror. This will add water energy to your car, making it easier to cope with frustrations like traffic, poorly marked roads and reckless drivers. If you aren’t able to find a crystal, use a small bottle of water instead.

• PLANNING IS EVERYTHING – Once the car has been cleared and cleaned, plan your trip from start to finish so that you have all that you will need on the road and during your trip. This will include maps, addresses needed for a navigation device, along with all of the phone numbers.

• YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT – Plan food and snacks and have them organized in the car where they are easily reached. If possible, assign a person to be in charge of snack retrieval on the road.

• EASY LISTENING – Sing or play music when you enter the car to get rid of any negative energy. This will allow you to drive the rest of the day in a clean, refreshed space.

Think of your next family road trip and try to incorporate some or all of these above tips to see if they help out at all. I know when we’re traveling with our kids, we can use all the help we can get!

Freschetta By The Slice, Microwave Pizza that’s REALLY good!

This post brought to you by FRESCHETTA®. All opinions are 100% mine.

Mmmm… PIZZA!  Just the thought of it makes my mouth water.  We’re a big pizza loving family but a lot of times it’s just not accessible as much as we like.  Let’s be real, ordering a pizza for delivery can be expensive, especially when it’s maybe just 1 or 2 of you around who want a slice, but Freschetta has changed all that and made it a bit easier and more economical.

Home alone without the kids for the night but don’t want to order a whole pizza for yourself?  Then just pop in a FRESCHETTA® By the Slice into the microwave and VOILA!  Pizza for 1 is ready!

Freschetta By The Slice is a single slice of pizza, yes microwaveable but it’s really really good!  With slices available such as BBQ Recipe Chicken, Vegetable Medley, Chicken Spinach & Mushroom and Six Cheese Medley, you’ll find a yummy slice for just about anyone!

Buying by the slice isn’t perfect for all occasions, but a few in the freezer will help you out when you have that pizza craving.  First you won’t eat an entire pizza and second you’ll get to enjoy a slice with yummy and healthier ingredients than just pepperoni.

You can find Freschetta By The Slice in your local grocer’s freezer section.  You can also check out  FRESCHETTA on Twitter at @FreschettaPizza and on Facebook.

STOMP invades Toledo at The Stranahan Theater….

spotlight stomp STOMP invades Toledo at The Stranahan Theater….

I’ve always had a love of music and dance. I went to an arts school when I was younger, I was on a step squad in high school and when it came to college, I went to school for recording arts management. It’s in my blood!

Years ago when I first heard of and saw STOMP I was intrigued. It was something I’ve always wanted to see but never got the chance, until yesterday. I was fortunate enough to go see STOMP at The Stranahan Theater in Toledo Ohio.

STOMP is a huge hit and has been for years. Originally created by Luke Cresswell & Steve McNichols the stage performance shows how ordinary objects such as brooms, trash cans, lighters, bags, sticks, sinks and so much more can be used to make amazing rhythms and make you get up and dance!

STOMP was just amazing! Watching the performers find ways to to make a show stomp 2 300x200 STOMP invades Toledo at The Stranahan Theater….interesting with just music and sound, no talking… Had the entire audience on their feet and clapping. Surprisingly enough, something I didn’t expect was the absolutely hilarious humor involved in the show. I had tears rolling down my face at some points I was laughing so hard.

The show started with a loan dancer sweeping the stage and then braking out into fantastic rhythms with his broom then joined by the rest of the cast making amazing sounds and music with brooms all in unison! It’s amazing how great a match box can sound, as they pulled them out of their pockets and taped on them to make us not only enjoy but laugh. There’s also audience participation with interactive clapping segments throughout the show.

I just can’t get over how great the show was and is.. I’d love to see it again. I’d love to experience the trash can lid duets, the amazing and hilarious sink segment, wooden poles which take on a warrior like scene and who can forget the giant rubber inner tubes or basketballs.

STOMP totally lived up to all of my expectations. There were audience members of all ages, from very young to old, people from every walks of life and the standing ovation (twice) at the end seemed to say that everyone enjoyed the show just as much as I did.

There’s one more performance of STOMP tonight (4/27) in Toledo at The Stranahan TheaterSave 20% off of balcony seating with the code: LIDS or to find out when STOMP is coming to your area visitstomponline.com, this is one show you don’t want to miss out on!

A Toast To Everyday Healthy Food

Screen+shot+2011 03 30+at+10.27.21+AM A Toast To Everyday Healthy Food

Healthy eating is always on my mind, however with spring approaching it’s even more so, spending time outdoors in the warm sun means wearing less clothing, which means me being very self conscious, so besides exercising daily I’m watching what I’m eating and making sure the entire family eats healthy as well.oldlondon1 A Toast To Everyday Healthy Food

Finding healthy items that the kids will eat isn’t always an easy task, but I’ve found a few things that help, like Old London snacks! My girls just love them, and with flavors like Spicy Cheddar Bagel Chips and Roasted Garlic Melba Snacks eating them on their own, or finding a fun recipe to include them in is easy! Old London snacks are the perfect little snacks for the biggest or even smallest of hands.

To inspire us all to eat healthier, Old London has launched the “Aloha Old London” sweepstakes. One winner and a guest will be sent to Oahu, Hawaii for an all expenses paid Hawaiian vacation. Not only will they be able to soak up the sun, spend some time at the spa, they’ll also be able to have private cooking lessons! This four-day, three-night, all expenses paid trip can be won by YOU if you enter! You can enter the sweepstakes now through June 30th, 2011 atFacebook.com/OldLondonFoods.
