After my first born, I swore I was going to do better, now that I knew better. I was going to make her baby food myself, not use so many ‘chemically engineered’ items on her, and cloth diaper instead of using the disposables.
Well, I did well with the first two. I made all her food, I used more natural products with her, but the cloth diapering, I just couldn’t do. I heard so many great things about them, and I still do, but for me, it just wasn’t something I was going to grin and bear, I mean there was work to it, and lets be honest, I was tired, and well, LAZY! Disposables were so much easier! Less cost effective, but you pay for convience. If I was able to find someone who would do the laundry for me and change her diapers, lol I probably would have found convient, easy to use cloth diapers that I would have used on her, but alas, I’m the lazy mom who really wanted the easy way out.
Cloth Diapering is great, if you can do it, and if you aren’t lazy like me. I commend those who do! How DO you do it though? The laundry, the getting rid of the ‘mess’? I always wondered how mom’s were able to do it, with a smile and telling everyone “We Cloth Diaper”. So many questions, so many unanswered questions.
As my girls are older now, I don’t have to worry about that, but I still wanted to give you all a little advice, and/or laugh, I mean you can find pleanty of places where you can find reasons you should cloth diaper, one of my favorite reads is the Lazy Mom’s Guide to Cloth Diapering cause let me tell you, that is what I was, lazy mom, I wish I found that article sooner!
My Reasons Not To Cloth Diaper My Kids….
– White Diapers match EVERYTHING!
– More garbage provides jobs and something to do for the garbage man! We don’t want them out of a job!
– I like to shop, having to go to the store for diapers so many times, gives me an excuse to find other things I want to buy.
– Laundry sucks, I’m already behind, my kid will have a bare butt if I have to do so much laundry
– Infant Skinny Jeans!!
– Leaving behind a legacy! That’s right, my kids DNA is in those landfills!
Ok, so my reasoning isn’t really advice, it’s just a means for a laugh. Check out some of these new moms who decided to switch from disposables to cloth diapering, see what they thought and how they did.
Seriously, for those who do cloth diaper, I bow to you cause I just couldn’t do it. I’d like to know how you do/did though, what’s your advice to new moms who are thinking about cloth diapering?

It’s fall, that means some new shows are coming our way to watch while we’re indoors, cuddled up and staying warm. There’s a lot of shows to watch this coming fall and winter season, but one not to miss, at least in our household will is Timeless.
NBC brings us this great new series called Timeless which airs Monday’s at 10pm ET (9 CT) and is about 3 people who travel back in time in order to keep a terrorist from ruining history. Eric Kripke (Revoultion, Supernatural) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield) as well as the producers of The Blacklist bring you this action adventure series.
A mysterious criminal steals a state of the art time machine and wants to destroy America as we know it today, by changing the past. A team of people that include a scientist, soldier and history professor use the prototype of the machine in order to travel back in time to critical events. The issue is they cannot affect the past themselves so they must stay ahead of the terrorist. The cast includes Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Visnjic, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffery and Claudia Doumit.
The show is actually really good, at least the pilot episode that I was able to see was. Very interesting! If you’d like to see a clip of the show check it out below:
Monday’s episode is titled “The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln”. Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus chase the terrorist to the night of Lincoln’s assassination, where they’re horrified to learn that Flynn’s linked up with history’s most notorious assassin, John Wilkes Booth. Putting aside a tragedy of her own, Lucy speculates that Flynn intends to send the fragile nation into chaos by making a bad thing worse, and a debate rages among the team: should they alter history if it means changing it for the better? Tune in this Monday October 10th at 10/9c on NBC!
I hope this show sticks around for a long while, it’s a great, fun, family show that all can enjoy!

Are you wearing blue today?
Monday, October 3 is Blue Shirt Day and everyone around the globe is encouraged to show their support for kindness by wearing blue.
STOMP Out Bullying is emphasizing National Bullying Prevention Month by having a Blue Shirt Day to celebrate respect, and kindness and that we need to put a stop to bullying both in schools, and online.
STOMP Out Bullying wants everyone to know that the kids who bullied are often labeled as ‘different’ but the truth is, everyone is different and we need to educate kids about differences and how to understand and be kind to each other.
I’ve had a dealing with bullying when it came to my oldest daughter. It’s not a fun thing to see your child go through, but she came out better on the other side and held her head high against those bullies. STOMP Out Bullying has many resources for helping kids cope, as well as their parents and also how to prevent it from happening. Things like the live HelpChat Line which is FREE and confidential for kids to use who are over the age of 13. It’s available to help kids make healthy decisions and reduce their stress. All of the volunteers are trained to assist these kids who are having feelings about being bullied, and helps with emotional support. Kids can talk about their safety, emotions and thoughts in a confidential way.
So stand up today, and wear blue to support STOMP Out Bullying and Blue Shirt Day. You can stand up for the entire month of October. Have you ever delt with bullying? What would you say to someone who’s engaging in bullying behavior? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
